qCella announces the closing of its CHF 1.3 million pre-seed financing round

qCella, a spinoff from ETH Zurich, announces the successful completion of its CHF 1.3 million pre-seed funding round. This funding will accelerate the development of the company’s breakthrough heating technology, enabling testing in customers’ products by the end of 2025 and supporting team expansion.

Participating investors in the financing round are organizations including Kick Foundation (Venture Kick), Kickfund, ETH Foundation, Swisspreneur Syndicate and business angels from networks like Business Angels Switzerland, Aare Ventures, Business Angel Club Kanton Aargau, and Winti Ventures.

Key Milestones:
The funds will enable qCella to:

  • Scale production of its copper-cellulose hybrid fibers.
  • Transition from batch production to roll-to-roll paper-making processes in collaboration with external partners.
  • Integrate its heating technology into a customer product for testing by the end of 2025.

The startup has already secured paid pilot projects for 2025, with interest spanning diverse industries such as heated shoe insoles, panel heating for electric vehicles, and food warming systems.
